Getting enough sleep when staying in a hotel can be hard, this could be because you aren’t able to go to sleep early enough or you struggle to sleep when you do go to bed. There’s ways of sleeping great and feeling refreshed on a morning, even if you don’t get the recommended amount of sleep. To stop yourself from feeling restless and awake on a night you could limit the amount of caffeine you have after about 2pm, you can make sure you get regular exercise and also to keep the room dark when you go to sleep. This means that if you do this and keep the bed just for sleeping, your body will know that once it’s in bed it needs to sleep. You could also try going to bed at the same time every night and avoid having a lie in on your days off, so this keeps your body in a better routine.

 

Then you need to think about the mattress that you choose. If you choose the correct mattress for you then no matter what position you sleep in you will be comfortable. Make sure you don’t buy a bed or mattress just because it says it helps with back pain or that it’s orthopaedic, as with beds this just tend to mean extra firm. The best ones tend to be medium firm with cushioning. You should be looking for a mattress which is soft enough that you can sink into it, but also firm enough to support you. If the bed and mattress are for you and your partner, then you may want to look and zip and lock beds, these are ideal when partners have different preferences. Many mattresses have to been turned quite often to avoid wear and tear, if this is likely to prove difficult, then you might want to look for a mattress that doesn’t have to be changed as frequently. Also you want to pay attention when choosing a pillow, you want to get one that will support your neck. If you tend to sleep on your side you will want a firmer pillow, if you sleep more on your back you will want a softer pillow and if you sleep better on your front you will want a flat, thinner pillow.
